Location: London (hybrid – 2 days working from home per week)

Our client, a multinational shipping group, are looking to appoint a Graduate Accountant to support the finance team across a broad range of accounting and operational finance activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional looking to develop their career within a dynamic international business environment, gaining exposure to shipping, trading, and multi-entity finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily bookkeeping and transactional accounting across multiple group entities
  • Process purchase invoices, supplier payments, bank reconciliations, and employee expenses
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing
  • Assist with monthly management accounts preparation and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Liaise with internal departments including operations, commercial, and trading teams regarding financial queries
  • Support cash flow monitoring and treasury administration
  • Assist with financial reporting, data analysis, and ad hoc finance projects
  • Coordinate with external auditors, banks, and other stakeholders when required
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, company policies, and reporting procedures
  • Support process improvement initiatives and finance system administration

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or similar accounting role
  • Experience within shipping, logistics, trading, or an international business environment is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and transactional finance processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive, proactive, and eager to develop within a growing multinational organisation
  • AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA would be advantageous
