My client is a global manufacturer and trader of non-ferrous metals with an excellent track record in staff development and retention. Headquartered in London, they manage a portfolio of 15-20 companies around the world.

They are looking for a Trainee Accountant at their corporate head office in the City of London.

Working in the Group’s Corporate Head Office as part of a team of 4, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for a broad range of activities, but not limited to:

  • Posting and processing of accounting entries in the Head Office ledgers e.g.:
    • Processing purchase invoices
    • Processing some sales ledger invoices (predominantly inter-company recharges)
    • Processing expense claims
    • Maintaining the company purchase and sales ledger in Sage 200
    • Performing weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
    • Preparing and processing payment runs in the month
    • Handling any queries with suppliers and reconciling supplier statements where appropriate
    • Assisting with the preparation of all Group reports including monthly and annual accounts as well as budgets and forecasts;

The role comes with excellent prospects for career development within the Group and study support (AAT training offered to the right candidates after 6 months in role).

Candidate requirements:

  • A candidate who has recently completed A-Levels/similar with strong grades (A-B) in relevant modules e.g. Accounting, Finance, Maths, Economics, or AAT completed to the Intermediate/ Level 2 and strong GCSEs/similar.
  • As a minimum, a basic working knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel.
  • Problem solving and numerical/analytic skills;
  • Reliable, hardworking and personable;
  • Ambitious and positive/can-do attitude;
  • Looking for a career in accountancy;
  • Able to work in a small team.
