Our client, a well-established luxury retailer, is looking for a Finance Manager to join their London team. Reporting to the senior management team, this is a broad, hands-on finance role with responsibility for the day-to-day running of the finance function. The successful candidate will oversee management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow, payroll, VAT, stock accounting and financial controls, while providing useful commercial insight to support business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day finance and accounting function
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
  • Produce budgets, forecasts and regular financial analysis for management
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital and supplier payments
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Prepare VAT returns and support wider tax administration
  • Manage monthly payroll and associated reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate stock and inventory accounting, including stock reconciliations and margin analysis
  • Complete bank, credit card and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support year-end accounts and liaise with external accountants, tax advisers and auditors
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure appropriate approval processes are followed
  • Provide commercial and financial insight to senior management
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting and systems

Role Requirements

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification would be advantageous
  • Strong management accounting and month-end experience
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
  • Good understanding of VAT, payroll and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Experience within retail, luxury, consumer or a stock-based business would be advantageous
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence using accounting systems
  • Commercially minded with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and managing a broad finance remit
