Title: Graduate Trainee Accountant
Location: Islington – 100% Office Based
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000
Our client, a multinational fashion group based in London, is looking for an ambitious and motivated Graduate Trainee Accountant to join their finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to begin their career in accounting and gain broad, hands-on experience within an international business. Working closely with the finance, operations and management teams, the successful candidate will support the day-to-day accounting function while developing their technical knowledge and practical finance experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with day-to-day bookkeeping and general accounting administration
- Process purchase invoices, expenses and supporting documentation
- Raise sales invoices, credit notes and customer statements
- Allocate customer and supplier payments accurately
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Support bank, supplier and customer account reconciliations
- Prepare and post journals, accruals and prepayments
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Assist with VAT returns and other statutory reporting requirements
- Help maintain accurate financial records across internal accounting systems
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
- Support the preparation of reports and financial information for management
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to information requests
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and queries
- Work closely with other departments to ensure financial information is accurate and up to date
- Provide general finance and administrative support to the wider team
Candidate Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics or another relevant discipline
- Strong interest in developing a long-term career in accounting and finance
- Good understanding of basic accounting principles
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and spoken English
- Good Excel and general Microsoft Office skills
- Confident working with numbers and financial information
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment
- Proactive, enthusiastic and keen to learn
- Previous finance, accounting, bookkeeping or office experience through an internship, placement or part-time role would be advantageous
- Experience using Xero or another accounting system would be advantageous
