Title: Assistant Group Accountant – 12 Month FTC
Location: Central London (Hybrid – 1–2 days WFH)
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + benefits
Our client, a multinational commodities trading group, is looking for an Assistant Group Accountant to join its central London finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or finalist ACA / ACCA accountant with group consolidation experience, either from an audit background or an existing industry role. The position offers broad exposure across group reporting, year-end, budgeting, and technical accounting within an international environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the monthly group consolidation process
- Prepare monthly group management accounts and reporting
- Maintain financial results for a number of group and holding entities
- Assist with consolidation journals, intercompany adjustments, and reporting queries
- Support the year-end close and statutory reporting process
- Liaise with external auditors and respond to audit queries
- Assist with the annual budgeting process
- Work closely with international finance teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Support technical accounting matters and ad hoc group finance projects
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, and finance processes
Role Requirements
- Newly qualified or finalist ACA / ACCA, or equivalent
- Consolidation experience is essential, either from industry or auditing group consolidations
- Candidates making their first move from audit will be considered
- Strong Excel skills
- Good understanding of financial reporting and core accounting principles
- Experience working with auditors, either in practice or industry
- Exposure to technical accounting or financial statements preparation would be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills
- Proactive, organised, and comfortable working to reporting deadlines
- Collaborative approach with an interest in improving processes and reporting
