Job Summary:

Reporting to the Parts & Service Manager, the Lead Millwright shall support the Professional Services Group (PSG) in all areas pertaining to field installation, inspections, repairs/troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance and support for technical issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing downtime
  • Work closely with engineering, project management, and sales teams to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction
  • Conduct on-site evaluations to analyze systems, equipment, and processes, identifying areas for improvement or troubleshooting.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery
  • Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools
  • Preparation of field Service Reports and Inspection Checklists to be submitted to Service Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Submission of accurate Time Sheets and Expense Reports to PSG Manager for approval.
  • Aid in estimating and planning of site work as required.
  • Strictly follow the “Service Department Travel Guidelines” at all times.
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Construct foundations for machinery or direct other workers to construct foundations
  • Ensuring tests and procedures are properly executed, carried out and evaluated.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to travel 75% of the year
  • A valid passport and the ability to travel without restrictions is required.
  • Carry a class “G” or higher drivers license with the ability to provide a Valid clear driver’s abstract within thirty (30) days of hire date
  • Significant amount of time on-site, which may involve travel to client locations, manufacturing plants, or construction sites
  • Role requires flexibility for emergency breakdowns or late scheduling changes occur.
  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Ability to follow instructions from the Parts & Service Manager, Service Coordinator, Manufacturing Supervisor, Manager, or lead hand.
  • In the absence of supervision, capable of guiding the work needed to achieve the set objectives.
  • Ability to understand and comply with Health and Safety, Quality Management Systems and Company policies.
  • Must have a team driven attitude, work ethic and always present themselves in a professional manner.

Education and Experience:

  • Relevant certification such as 433A is an asset/or strong background in machine assembly will be considered as equivalent.
  • Experience in controls, hydraulics and pneumatics an asset.
  • Experience in scissor lift builds, screw/jack installs and alignment, belt and chain drive applications, large equipment layout procedures, large equipment erection.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • International and local travel
  • Work in a manufacturing environment
  • When not traveling will report to Lead Hand for assignment within the shop.
  • Report location will vary between the Grimsby and Hamilton facilities.
