Our client is a trusted and growing contract manufacturing partner to the food, agriculture, and chemical industries. Based in North Yorkshire, they’ve built a strong reputation for quality, flexibility, and customer service — and as their business continues to evolve, so too must their internal functions.
Following a strategic review of the finance team, they are investing in an enhanced structure to support the company’s growth, modernise reporting systems, and build a high-performing finance function. As part of this transformation, we are now seeking a Finance Manager who will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial operations, driving process improvements, and supporting the development of junior staff.
Reporting to the newly appointed Head of Finance, the Finance Manager will lead the day-to-day delivery of the finance function. You will take ownership of the month-end process, management accounts, and key reconciliations, while ensuring financial control and compliance are maintained. You will also oversee and support a small team, including a trainee management accountant and finance assistants responsible for sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll, and other transactional activities.
This role requires a hands-on and organised finance professional who is confident working in a busy operational environment. You will need to be detail-oriented, experienced in process improvement, and capable of mentoring junior team members while ensuring accuracy and deadlines are met. Experience in a manufacturing, food, or agricultural environment would be highly beneficial.
The successful candidate will be AAT qualified (or higher), have proven experience preparing or supervising management accounts, and demonstrate confidence using finance systems such as Sage and Excel. You’ll be proactive, approachable, and able to communicate clearly across functions — helping to bridge finance with the wider business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to shape and modernise a finance function within a growing SME, with the support of a progressive management team and a wider business that values accuracy, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
