Handley James Chemical is partnered with a global refrigerant gas business, one of the biggest in Europe, to source a Production Manager to join their team in their Northampton facility. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is a pivotal role, at an important juncture for the business, helping the Operations Manager to lead change in processes and future projects. You will be responsible for all aspects of production, working closely with the operational team to help ensure a lean and efficient team, delivering results within the technical niche of the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all H&S Compliance and Quality procedures and process are followed.
  • Ensure any required HR functions are completed as required.
  • Contribute to the creation of the monthly production plan.
  • Ownership of daily production meetings to ensure adherence to plan, and report any issues to the Operations Manager.
  • Report any updates and maintain effective communication channels across the business.
  • Assist in processes and/or production failure investigations.
  • Assist in analysing processes to allow for accurate process times evaluation and target setting.
  • Measure and manage performance of the production team including absence and policy management.
  • Assist in the creation and adaptation of training matrix for each production area.
  • Monthly reporting of set criteria as agreed with the Operations Manager.
  • Able to adapt workload for quality and throughput and be able to be proactive and responsive within an agreed plan when challenges arise.
  • Work closely with the SHEQ Manager for internal and external failures.
  • Managing the development of team members through 1-2-1’s.
  • Mentoring and coaching through training matrix and/or development plans.

Candidate Requirements

  • Transferable and relevant experience in a supervisory position within a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong relationship builder with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fully conversant in all Microsoft packages: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience using MRP systems.
  • IOSH preferred but not essential.
  • Experience working in lean process with knowledge in Kanban, Kaizen, 5S and Six Sigma preferred but not essential.

This role will suit an existing production supervisor ready for a next step or a current production manager keen in a new challenge. In return our client is offering a salary of c£40,000 - £42,000pa depending on experience, bonus and benefits.
