Overview
Handle Recruitment is seeking a passionate and highly skilled Event Producer to join our client\’s award-winning events and conference business.
4 days a week in office, 1 day at home. Salary: £38,000 + Bonus. Location: South West London.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in one of the most exciting and fast-growing sectors in the world, Africa\’s Power Sector. The team is around 20-strong, collaborative, and passionate about delivering world-class events. The successful candidate will work closely with the Group Director and Portfolio Manager to conceptualise, produce, and deliver a high-quality portfolio of events.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a portfolio of events focused on Africa\’s energy sector.
- Lead production of the flagship Africa Energy Forum and in-country events.
- Oversee project teams, including sales, marketing, and delegate sales, ensuring overall event success.
- Conduct in-depth market and industry research to develop relevant, leading event agendas.
- Generate new topic ideas aligned with global and regional trends, providing direction for conference content.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, committee members, advisors, associations, and senior government representatives including Ministers.
- Work with leadership to develop and implement long-term event strategy.
- Manage relationships with supporters, clients, speakers, and media partners.
- Lead marketing, sponsorship, and delegate sales teams to meet promotional and commercial targets.
- Write promotional copy for event programmes and content for the news site to promote events.
- Manage budgets with the Portfolio Manager.
- Ensure excellent onsite delivery, managing speakers, delegates, and logistics.
Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours
- Proven experience as a conference producer or in a comparable role with transferable skills.
- Track record of owning and growing a portfolio of events with strong content and commercial results.
- Loyal, dedicated, and committed with a strong work ethic.
- Team player capable of inspiring and leading project teams.
- Able to perform under pressure, managing large-scale events (300+ speakers, 100+ sponsors).
- French language skills preferred but not essential.
- Strong project management, organisational, and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge or strong interest in Africa\’s energy sector.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
- Strong relationship-building skills with senior industry stakeholders to drive commercial outcomes.
- Effective copywriting skills to communicate value propositions clearly.
- Experienced in developing new topics and launching profitable events.
- Proactive, results-driven, and highly motivated.
