We have an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environment Manager to join our team based at our site in Kingswinford. The purpose of the role is to ensure compliance with relevant standards and continually improve our performance and culture in HSE as measured by metrics including but not limited to: accident measures, near misses, action completion, audit schedule adherence, carbon footprint, recycling, sustainability, energy consumption.

Additionally, to guide the transition of HSE ownership from a traditional single functional based structure to a more agile and effective cross functional model. Specific focus on risk assessment rationalisation is essential, and the creation of robust handover plans is required for the respective business areas to take ownership of any issues arising.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring the Kingswinford and UK operation for adherence to the H&S system, ensuring risk assessments and all controls are maintained and up to date by the management team.
  • Tracking completion of actions arising for the above and ensuring their efficacy.
  • Independent audits of the Kingswinford facility as well as the introduction of management safety walks.
  • Creation of robust handover plans for the respective business areas to allow them to take complete ownership, including both local level reporting and business level reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with Environmental standards, including emissions, such as ESOS and management of waste.
  • Seeking opportunities to reduce emissions and energy consumption for the whole UK operation including fleet and remote working.
  • Timetabling external statutory examinations and risk assessments so they are conducted as required.
  • Adding updates to the legal register as updates received then advising managers to ensure compliance.
  • Development of the current near miss reporting process to drive proactive actions.
  • Assisting managers and supervisors in conducting toolbox talks.
  • Tracking and monitoring HSE improvement programme, chasing action completion.
  • Ensure continuance of ISO45001 (ISO8001) and ISO14001.
  • Liaise with all HSE statutory bodies as appropriate.
  • Automation of KPI reporting for the Kingswinford facility – where possible feeding into Business level automation.
  • As a member of the UK management team, providing HSE updates and ensuring clear communications of risks and actions required to resolve.
