The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Fraud and Anti-Bribery & Corruption team as a Financial Crime Card Fraud Chargeback Analyst on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract. This role will be based at our Manchester City Centre Head Office.

The role is to work within a team of fraud specialists who respond to, and investigate fraud incidents affecting our customers and drive the Bank’s fraud prevention strategy.

This role is primarily focused on the recovery of funds relating to unauthorised Card fraud transactions via the Chargeback scheme. As part of this role there will be a basic level of investigation required to validate Chargeback claims, as well as a strong attention to detail and understanding of the chargeback scheme rules.

A level of independent working and the ability to manage competing priorities within time critical timeframes is key to this role.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake basic card fraud investigations in relation to Chargebacks.
• Responsible for timely management of the end to end process for Chargeback cases ensuring that all cases are managed with prescribed timescales.
• Responsible for movement of funds relating Chargeback cases.
• Responsible for reporting to and liaising with the scheme (Mastercard) in relation to fraud cases.
• Utilising high level investigative techniques, systems and information across a range of internal and external sources.
• Completion of UARs if deemed appropriate.
• Provide assistance to branch colleagues and any other relevant internal departments, with general Chargeback related queries.
• Support the development and review of instructions, controls and processes relevant to the Chargeback process.
• Undertaking the recording and input of cases of Card fraud on internal systems.

What we’re looking for

• Work as part of the team to ensure the day to day activities are adequately prioritised to suit shifting demands.
• Work independently and manage cases according to scheme time frames.
• Work to tight deadlines and often under pressure whilst maintaining a high level of quality and competency.
• Understanding of Card Fraud typologies and enablers.
• A good working knowledge of card chargeback and disputes rights
• Awareness of legislation and UK initiatives pertaining to fraud offences such as Fraud Act 2006, PSR 2017.
• Excellent communication and decision making skills with the ability to demonstrate sound judgement based on a clearly stated rationale to reflect the right business outcome.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail, presenting information in a clear and concise manner.
• Experience of working with card fraud detection systems, authentication protocols and services such as 3-D secure, MasterCard etc would be preferred.
• Awareness of the changing regulatory landscape in relating to fraud prevention including but not limited to PSD2/3, FCA, PRA, PSR and AML requirements.
• An awareness of the fraud threat landscape, banking products and the UK regulatory environment is not essential but would be preferred
