The Role As a Senior Children's Residential Support Worker, you will be a key member of the leadership team, supporting the Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of the home and providing guidance and mentorship to Residential Support Workers. You'll help create a safe, stable and nurturing environment where children and young people feel supported, valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting and supervising Residential Support Workers
- Acting as a role model and mentor to the wider team
- Deputising for the Deputy Manager when required
- Promoting the safety, wellbeing and development of children and young people
- Supporting the implementation of care plans and behaviour support strategies
- Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
- Encouraging independence, resilience and life skills development
- Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and incidents
- Maintaining high-quality records, reports and documentation
- Supporting rota planning and team performance
- Working collaboratively with social workers, education providers and healthcare professionals
- Supporting compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children's Home Standards
About You
We're looking for a dedicated and resilient childcare professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people. You will bring experience, leadership qualities and a genuine commitment to delivering high-quality care.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare, Children & Young People's Workforce, Health & Social Care, or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years' experience within Children's Residential Care
- Previous experience supporting, mentoring or supervising staff
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours using positive and therapeutic approaches
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Compassionate, resilient and child-focused approach
