In this role you will deputise in the Deputy Manager’s absence and support other Support Workers.
- Team Leader Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of care staff in the children's residential home.
- Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to staff.
- Ensure the team adheres to policies, procedures and safeguarding regulations.
- Conduct staff meetings, appraisals and performance reviews.
- Support with staff rotas and shift planning.
- Ensure the wellbeing, safety and welfare of young people.
- Respond to incidents, safeguarding concerns or disclosures.
- Provide emotional and practical support to children, meeting their needs.
- Create and maintain care plans tailored to individual children.
- Encourage independence, life skills and positive behaviours.
- Support education, activities and social engagement.
- Address and manage challenging behaviours using de‑escalation techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of care plans, daily logs and incidents.
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Home Standards.
- Complete risk assessments and follow health and safety protocols.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with legislation and organisational policies.
- Participate in inspections and audits, providing evidence of good practice.
- Work with social workers, therapists, teachers and healthcare professionals.
- Attend and contribute to multi‑disciplinary meetings.
- Ideal Candidate
- NVQ Level 3/4 Residential Childcare, CYPW, Children & Young People or Health and Social Care.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a children's setting.
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Safeguarding training and knowledge of child protection procedures.
- Empathy, patience and resilience with vulnerable children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle challenging behaviours effectively.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
