Fraud & Investigations Manager

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid work - only required once per week, in office; the rest, working from home)

Salary: Β£55-72,500 basic, plus market-leading benefits (pension, annual leave, etc.)

The Opportunity

An established organisation is seeking a Fraud & Investigations Manager to support the delivery of its investigations, internal audit, and governance activities.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a range of fraud, misconduct, and compliance investigations while working closely with stakeholders across the business to strengthen controls, improve governance standards, and support a strong risk management culture. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative assurance function and play a key role in protecting the organisation from fraud and financial crime risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage investigations relating to fraud, misconduct, whistleblowing concerns, conflicts of interest, and other compliance matters.
  • Conduct fact-finding reviews, interviews, evidence gathering, and root cause analysis.
  • Produce high-quality investigation reports with practical recommendations for management.
  • Partner with Internal Audit, Risk, Legal, Finance, and Compliance teams to address control deficiencies and governance concerns.
  • Support the development and enhancement of fraud prevention frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify emerging risks and recommend control improvements to reduce exposure to fraud and misconduct.
  • Utilise data analytics and investigative tools to support case reviews and identify trends.
  • Monitor and track remediation actions to ensure agreed improvements are implemented.
  • Support governance reporting and provide updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Deliver fraud awareness and governance training across the organisation.
  • Assist with internal audit assignments and assurance reviews where appropriate.

About You

We are interested in speaking with professionals who have experience within investigations, internal audit, forensic accounting, compliance, risk management, or related assurance functions.

You will ideally have:

  • A degree or equivalent combination of qualifications and relevant experience.
  • A CFE (ACFE), CIA, or other relevant professional qualifications, would be an advantage.
  • Proven experience managing fraud investigations, compliance reviews, and/or internal audit engagements.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance, internal controls, and fraud risk management principles.
  • Experience preparing reports and presenting findings to senior management.
  • Familiarity with data analytics techniques used within investigations and assurance functions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • A proactive approach to solving problems and driving continuous improvement.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within a large corporate, public sector, regulated, or professional services environment.
  • Exposure to forensic investigations, financial crime, or regulatory compliance matters.
  • Experience supporting governance, risk, and control improvement initiatives.
  • Previous consulting or advisory experience would be beneficial.
