Hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours shift pattern
Salary: £23.35 per hour
Shift schedule:
- Week 1: 06:00 - 14:00
- Week 2: 07:00 - 15:00
- Week 3: 14:00 - 22:00 (30‑minute unpaid lunch break)
Included within the above rate is a 1 in 9 weeks on call – Monday to Sunday. Attendance paid at appropriate overtime rate. Full‑time, rotational shift work. Overtime available at rate x 1.5.
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Shift Engineer to join our engineering team at a well‑established manufacturing plant with over 60 years of operational history. This is a key role supporting production by maintaining and improving a diverse range of electrical systems – from legacy infrastructure to modern automated equipment. You will play a vital part in ensuring reliability, safety, and continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on industrial electrical systems
- Diagnose faults and perform repairs on:
- Motors, drives, and control panels
- Electrical distribution systems
- Heating system controls
- Automated machinery
- Support the upkeep and improvement of ageing plant infrastructure
- Maintain systems including:
- LV/HV power distribution (up to site‑specific levels)
- Lighting and power systems (110V, 240V, 415V)
- Building management / BEMS systems
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise outages
- Contribute to continuous improvement and modernisation projects
- Ensure all work complies with current electrical and safety regulations
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams plus management
About You
Essential
- Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong electrical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of industrial power and control systems
- Certified to current wiring regulations (17th / 18th Edition minimum)
- Ability to work effectively in a shift‑based environment
Desirable
- Experience working with legacy/older plant systems
- IPAF working at height
- Working in confined spaces
- PAT testing qualification
- Knowledge of power factor correction
- Knowledge of lightning protection systems
- Knowledge of site services (e.g., utilities, BEMS, LSS)
- HV authorisation (preferred but not essential)
