Boat House Caretaker

Hampton is one of the UK’s most successful independent schools. The School’s facilities include the Millennium Boat House (shared with our neighbouring girls’ school, Lady Eleanor Holles) located on the Moseley stretch of the River Thames and an impressive fleet of boats.

The role will be responsible for the security and maintenance of the Boat House areas and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience across health and safety management (including fire prevention, Legionella prevention, COSHH), fuel management, minor repairs, reporting faults, arranging servicing of all plant and equipment and liaising with contractors.

Reporting to the Boatman and the Estates Manager, the role will also work closely with the Director of Rowing and Rowing Coaches, Bursary and other members of the Maintenance and Facilities team. The successful candidate should therefore enjoy working as part of a team but also on their own, using their own initiative with a willing, ‘can do’ attitude and flexible approach.

The role is based at the Hampton School Millennium Boat House and normal working hours are from 8:00am to 12:00pm Monday to Friday.

The postholder acts as a key-holder and, for the successful completion of their role, should be prepared to work flexibly and outside their normal working hours in case of emergencies and when required.
