Most public sector property roles ask you to hold the line. This one asks you to grow the estate.
Hampton Moore is partnering with a Public Sector body who are looking to appoint a Senior Asset Manager to their Property & Investment team. It is a role for a surveyor who wants real ownership of a commercial portfolio, a direct line to decision makers, and the freedom to find value others have missed.
The opportunity
- A genuinely commercial brief. Help deliver the Commercial Property Investment Strategy and Asset Management Strategy, identifying opportunities for new income, development and disposals that generate receipts and reduce risk.
- The full breadth of asset management. Rent reviews, lease and licence negotiations, sales, easements, occupier relationships and inspections, with variety across the portfolio.
- Influence and visibility. Work alongside the Property & Investment Manager, Head of Major Projects and Director for Place, and advise elected Members directly.
- Leadership. Line manage Assistant Asset Managers and lead cross-departmental project teams, which makes it a natural step up for someone ready to lead.
- Modern ways of working. Blended working, they're investing seriously in digital and data, and ESG and portfolio upgrading firmly on the agenda.
About you
- MRICS qualified, ideally with a business-related degree
- Experience in professional practice, the public sector or a client-side business
- Sound knowledge of property legislation and policy, including ESG and its effect on value
- Strong numeracy and financial skills, and confident with Excel
- A confident negotiator with agents, tenants and developers
- Experience of upgrading stock, or a blend of local authority and private sector thinking, would be an advantage
Private sector candidates are actively encouraged. If you are in practice or client-side and curious about the public sector, this is a strong way in.
Flexible working is also offered.
