Midland Care Home is the latest addition to the Hampton Healthcare portfolio offering general care, specialist care for those with dementia or physical disability and nursing care. Our team strive to provide the best possible care to ensure that the complex needs of our residents are met and exceeded at all times.
Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Cook with a solid background in culinary preparation and kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in cooking a variety of dishes and a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards. A genuine love for baking is highly desirable, as the role will involve preparing baked goods alongside daily meal preparation. Creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are key to success in this role. The hours are 7am-2pm or 11am-5pm over XX days. You will be required to work every other weekend.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook high-quality meals according to the menu and customer preferences.
Ensure all food safety guidelines are adhered to, maintaining hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and culinary trends.
Oversee kitchen staff during meal preparation, providing guidance and support as needed.
Manage inventory levels, ensuring that all ingredients are fresh and properly stored.
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and guest satisfaction.
Maintain an organised kitchen workspace, including proper storage of utensils and equipment.
Participate in training new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety protocols.
Experience
Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant or catering environment.
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food preparation.
Excellent cooking skills with the ability to create diverse dishes across various cuisines.
Experience in managing kitchen operations efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong time management skills.
A passion for culinary arts and a desire to continuously improve cooking techniques.
