We are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious and passionate Teacher of English to join our well-established and successful English department on a fixed-term basis for one academic year from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for either an experienced teacher looking for a new challenge or an ECT eager to begin their career in a supportive and dedicated department. Our ECTs follow the DfE Early Career Framework and benefit from both a subject mentor and an Induction Tutor.

We are looking for a teacher who can inspire a love of reading, writing and literature, and who has a genuine enthusiasm for working with young people. You will take great satisfaction in helping students develop their skills, confidence and academic success. The ability to teach GCSE Film studies would be advantageous but is not essential. As part of this role, you will also undertake the role of form tutor, supporting student welfare and academic progress.

About the English Department

The English Department is well-established, collaborative and ambitious, with a strong commitment to ensuring students of all abilities are supported, challenged and inspired. At Key Stage 3, students follow a broad and engaging curriculum that develops:

  • Reading for meaning and enjoyment
  • Writing for a range of purposes and audiences
  • Spoken language skills
  • Secure grammatical knowledge

At Key Stage 4, students study Edexcel GCSE English Language and Edexcel GCSE English Literature and also have the opportunity to study Eduqas GCSE Film Studies, where they explore a diverse range of films, creative techniques and critical approaches. At Key Stage 5, students can study AQA A Level English Literature and AQA A Level English Language.
