Forest Craftsperson / Ranger - Hampton Estate, Surrey
Hampton Estate, a 910-hectare family-run rural business in the Surrey Hills, is looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on Forest Craftsperson/Ranger to join its small anddynamic team.
This is a varied, seasonal role split between practical woodland management and public engagement. You'll work alongside the estate forester on thinning, felling, tractor and digger work, bracken cutting, tree and hedge maintenance andplanting, log/kindling production and habitat management. You'll also lead on education and engagement across Hampton's publicly accessed and ecologically important habitats.
Hampton sits in a landscape of real ecological significance: part of the new Wealden Heaths Super National Nature Reserve and within a national pollinator BLine corridor you will lead engagement acrossheathland, downland and woodland habitats. This includes dog walker engagement on Puttenham Common during bird nesting season. You will also support ecological data collection with local recorders and citizen science partners.
We're looking for someone with initiative, strong people skills, a practical can-do attitude, and some experience with forestry machinery, tractors or chainsaws (training provided where needed). A passion for nature, engaging others and a clean driving licence are essential.
