Hampstead School is seeking a passionate specialist teacher to lead our Puawai Unit, supporting students with high and complex learning needs (0.8 which will fluctuate depending on annual ORS funding). 1 Unit may be available depending on the applicant. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive education and collaborative practice with staff and whÄnau.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver modified, inclusive programmes tailored to individual needs
- Teach in our specialist unit in the mornings, alongside a team of experienced learning assistants
- Assess learning needs and implement targeted interventions
- Work alongside classroom teachers and the Learning Support team to support participation in daily programmes
- Monitor student progress and contribute to the development and review of Learning plans (IEPs)
- Support end-of-term timetabling (in collaboration with the Learning support teacher)
- Meet with specialist staff and lead learning plan (IEP) meetings
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Holds current New Zealand teacher registration
- Has experience working with diverse learners, including those with high and complex needs
- Demonstrates strong collaboration and communication skills
- Is flexible, responsive, and committed to equitable outcomes
This role is for four full days, Mondays to Thursdays, which could be negotiated. Hampstead School is a welcoming and inclusive primary school with a diverse range of learners.
