Hampshire Trust Bank has a strong growth forecast for the years ahead, having achieved strong growth over recent years, and becoming a data driven business is identified as a key success criterion for achieving those forecasts on a cost-effective basis. The Bank is investing in becoming a data driven business and is in the process of migrating to a new data platform, comprising of a Snowflake data warehouse, Tableau reporting and analysis platform, and a new data governance operation. The working pattern for the role will be hybrid, with a minimum 50% of time spent in our London offices.
Responsibilities
- The Lead Data Architect will own the design of the Data Model, to ensure it meets business requirements, and aligns to agreed standards (e.g. Data Vault).
- Conceive and design the data structures and integrations that enable us to rapidly, efficiently and effectively deliver on the Bank's objectives.
- Ensure that data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical) is to a high standard across the organisation.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions aligned with business goals.
- Support the Bank in the execution of agreed control / governance methods and processes.
- Effectively collaborate with both IT and business stakeholders to understand how business processes translate into source system schemas, and the implications this has on the design of the Data Platform.
- Document detailed specifications for the ETL Developers to deliver against and run design assurance for numerous high-profile projects.
- Lead on the investigation of business data questions and problems to successfully determine the most effective solution for resolution and / or efficiency.
- Ensure communication of complex ideas and deliverables can be understood by non-technical colleagues across the Bank.
- Develop high and low level designs, including the overarching Data Platform Data Model.
- Mentoring of Data Platform Teams on data modelling methodologies and practices.
Qualifications
- Proven Data Warehouse modelling experience (Data Vault, Kimball, 3NF, etc.), possibly obtained in a different but complimentary role e.g. Data Engineer, Data Analyst.
- Analytical mind, critical thinker, and problem solver.
- Advanced SQL knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of modern data technologies, including Snowflake.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with a clear communication style.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to trouble-shoot complex data and architecture issues.
