An established M&E contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Project Manager. The company operates across multiple sectors including Commercial, Industrial, Logistics, Healthcare, High‑End Residential, Food Production, and Data Centres, delivering projects throughout the UK. This role offers the opportunity to work on varied and technically challenging projects as part of a collaborative and supportive estimating team.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for managing and delivering mechanical building services projects. Overseeing labour, subcontractors, procurement, programme, health & safety, quality, and commercial performance to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical installation projects from start to finish
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, programme, and budget
- Coordinate all mechanical site activities and subcontractors
- Monitor progress against programme and take corrective action where required
- Attend and lead project meetings with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
- Develop and manage project programmes and short‑term lookaheads
- Coordinate labour resources and site activities to meet deadlines
- Identify risks to programme delivery and implement mitigation measures
- Track project milestones, commissioning dates, and handover requirements
- Monitor project costs, variations, and financial performance
- Work closely with Quantity Surveyors to maintain project profitability
- Review subcontractor applications and variations
- Assist with forecasting and reporting project financial status
- Manage procurement of mechanical equipment and materials
- Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with health & safety legislation and company procedures
- Review and implement RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
- Conduct site inspections and safety audits
- Promote a positive safety culture on site
- Maintain strong client relationships throughout project lifecycle
Qualifications
- HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (preferred)
- SMSTS certification
- CSCS Management Card
Experience
- Proven experience managing mechanical building services projects
- Experience within commercial, residential, healthcare, industrial, or data centre sectors
- Strong understanding of HVAC, pipework, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Experience managing subcontractors and site teams
