The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is a grassroots movement working for nature’s recovery and to bring people closer to nature. Our vision for a wilder future is beautiful and vital! We are seeking a Trainee Assistant Reserves Officer (Isle of Wight) to join our cause.

As Trainee Assistant Reserves Officer, you will be assisting the Isle of Wight Reserves team in practical management and biological surveying of a suite of nature reserves across the Isle of Wight. These sites hold significant wildlife value and cover a broad range of habitat types, priority species and management criteria.

Duties will include:

  • Assisting Officers with environmental habitat management
  • Project management
  • Biological surveying
  • Conservation livestock management
  • Equipment and power tools maintenance
  • Working with volunteer groups

This post is aimed at individuals who wish to pursue a career in the environmental sector with a large focus on habitat and nature reserve management. In-house and external training will be provided following a tailored training program to give the most progression to the successful candidate. Occasional out-of-hours work may be requested, mainly dealing with livestock. Time can be claimed as time off in lieu.
