We’re looking for a proactive and hands‑on Facilities Officer to help us deliver high‑quality planned and reactive maintenance across a diverse police estate. You’ll be the eyes and ears on the ground — spotting issues before they escape, engaging with building users, and ensuring our facilities remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. From supporting building projects and relocations to supervising contractors and maintaining custodial facilities, you’ll play a key part in keeping our estate running smoothly.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Carrying out general building maintenance and compliance checks.
  • Engaging with building users to promote good practices and prevent deterioration.
  • Recording defects using our digital maintenance platform.
  • Supporting relocations, refurbishments, and decommissioning projects.
  • Supervising contractors and ensuring safe working practices.
  • Maintaining postal services and supporting facilities management coverage across core hours.
  • Ensuring health & safety and statutory compliance across multiple sites.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a facilities or maintenance role is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working in the public sector or hospitality industry is desirable but not essential.
  • Computer literate and confident in learning new systems.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.
  • Understanding of building systems, maintenance practice, and regulations.
