Job overview

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic administrator to join our team in Acute Medicine at Hampshire Hospitals (Basingstoke site). You will work within the AAU, AMU, and SDEC units, providing efficient administration services, welcoming patients and visitors, and managing patient admission and discharge processes.

Main duties of the job

  • Demonstrate good communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Book and track medical records, maintain organized filing systems.
  • Accurately record and update patient information in the trust databases, adhering to the Data Protection Act.
  • Complete documentation for patient admissions and discharges, complying with hospital and statistical requirements.
  • Support the unit staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist with patient discharges, including arranging transport and TTOs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow data protection and Information Governance policies.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate to the role.

Working for our organization

The AAU is a busy unit with high patient turnover. The postholder should be organized, proactive, and able to prioritize tasks to enhance patient experience and unit flow.

Working hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9 am – 3 pm, with potential weekend work (9 am – 3 pm or 2 pm – 8 pm).
