An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational and motived leader to be part of our team that is focused on improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND in Hampshire. We are looking for a strong leader with an understanding of SEND and the education system, with experience of designing and managing projects and/or initiatives that have led to lasting quantifiable impact.

A key part of the role will be to drive the delivery of our Local Area SEN actions, and Transforming SEND (TSEND), brought together through the governance of the TSEND board, which you will also manage.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee, co-ordinate & monitor activity and progress of all aspects of the Education Action Area of Local Area SEN work and wider Transforming SEND programme, ensuring that the work delivers improved outcomes.
  • Strong leadership and management skills to drive the delivery of the programme and board, including:-
  1. Risk management, including mitigation and escalation
  2. Oversight and influence of targets and other performance indicators
  3. tracking progress against targets and milestones, and managing the DSG to ensure that information supporting cost avoidance is up to date
  4. managing the board agenda and papers
  • Develop plans to return children to mainstream provision, rebalancing the system so that children are in the right places, with the best provision to meet their needs.
  • Collaborating and working with wider teams to design and plan new areas of work in response to identified needs, ensuring that they deliver improved services, experiences and outcomes for children and young people with SEND and align to the Local Area Vision.
  • Providing advice, guidance and coaching to colleagues involved in work and projects that report to the TSEND board.
  • Oversight of work and projects reporting to the TSEND board to ensure that they remain on track to meet targets and remain on time and within budget.
  • Regularly reporting progress as directed to boards, senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Leading defined project work as directed that delivers improved services and outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
  • Line managing one or more members of the team as directed.
