The Role:

We are looking for an exceptional child and family focused Occupational Therapist (OT) that can support our children and families through being an integral part of our newly formed Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).

We are proud of the wide range of skills and experience on offer through our specialist MDT and are able to support adopted children and their families in a flexible way. We cover a wide area including the Isle of Wight and so any applicant should be willing to travel within the whole area to see families and children.

As a Specialist Senior OT, the work will be exciting and flexible in nature, allowing for great development opportunities. It will require independent working and taking on case load responsibility, including managing and raising safeguarding issues. You will be involved in training with colleagues and external agencies and will be supported in gaining new skills and further career development.

What you’ll do:

  • Offer clinical expertise within the specified clinical area, collaboratively with colleagues in the MDT and outside of the team
  • Manage and carry your own case load
  • Provide safe and child centred effective and evidence based therapeutic support
  • Complete outcome measures to demonstrate team efficacy and improvement needs
  • Deliver clinical activities to children and young people and their families as supported by your professional standards and competency frameworks
  • Contribute to and be an active part of the integrated multi-disciplinary team (MDT) which includes working with psychology and other colleagues to formulate and make decisions about the best approach for children and their families
  • Full use of clinical and management supervision will be needed to ensure safe decision making processes

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who has experience of working with children and families, ideally in the field of adoption or care experienced settings. You may have other relevant experience and be looking for a challenge in this particular field.

We offer a range of valuable experiences which will allow you to develop in depth skills in working with children and young people with complex needs. This may include emotional as well as neurodevelopmental profiles, physical or learning disabilities and difficulties, across the age range.

You will hold a mixed caseload of children, young people and families. The children will be seen in the context relevant to their daily lives, so visits to home and school will be required. The team works proactively with schools and MDT colleagues to meet children\’s needs efficiently and effectively.
