The Role: There is an exciting opportunity for several Trainee, Graduate and/or Senior Fire Engineers of various grades and experience to join our Fire Engineering and Consultation Team (FECT) on a permanent basis. The Team is responsible for advising on the adequacy of fire safety messages in a wide range of new-build and renovation projects across Hampshire and Isle of Wight, as well as assisting our Protection Delivery teams in undertaking fire safety audits in complex premises.

As a Fire Engineer you will:

  • Take the lead on behalf of the Fire Authority in relation to fire engineering projects within Hampshire and IOW to ensure building designs meet the requirement of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
  • Ensure building regulation consultations are completed within statutory timeframes.
  • Provide support and guidance to operational, enforcement, investigations and fire safety colleagues on built environment and technical matters.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain high professional standards of practice.
  • Maintain your own personal and professional development.
  • Facilitate the sharing of relevant information with other areas of the organisation.

Appropriate candidates will be interviewed, and if successful, offered the appropriate Fire Engineer position as per their qualifications and experience.

Successful candidates taken on as a Trainee Fire Engineer will be given full training to complete a minimum of a Level 6 Fire Engineering qualification from a recognised University or other awarding body and MUST be willing to complete this qualification within an appropriate timeframe. Candidates taken on as Graduate Fire Engineers or Fire Engineer will be fully supported to complete further education and registration with the Engineering Council at IEng or CEng.
