About Us

Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES) is the educational arm of Westminster City Council, delivering courses across ESOL, English, Maths, Digital, Accounting, Community Learning, Childcare, Teaching, Language and Creative Arts. WAES provides high‑quality learning and development opportunities for residents and staff across the borough.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Level 2 and 3 Accounting courses using the Mindful Education platform.
  • Monitor student engagement, attendance, retention and progression, and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Diagnose students’ learning needs, prepare study plans and refer to support colleagues when required.
  • Prepare course outlines, schemes of work, lesson plans and identify required materials and equipment.
  • Teach tutorials, plan and schedule exams for AAT courses and produce assessments of learners’ work.
  • Collect and analyse learner feedback through surveys and share good practice with colleagues.
  • Stay current with curriculum developments and complete relevant training.
  • Comply with Health & Safety regulations and promote equal‑opportunity policies in the classroom and throughout the syllabus.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience delivering AAT qualifications and a sound knowledge of current AAT assessment processes.
  • Strong ICT skills to support teaching, learning and assessment in online and blended environments.
  • Proficiency in using the Mindful Education platform or similar learning management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maths and English GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above.
  • Recognised teaching qualification (PTLLS minimum) and Level 4 Diploma for Accounting Technicians, NVQ/SVQ Level 4 in Accounting or an equivalent qualification from a Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, be a creative problem‑solver and deliver lessons in both online and one‑to‑one settings.
