The Role:
As an Extreme Cleaning Specialist, you will help restore homes to safe, clean, and habitable conditions — directly improving the health and wellbeing of Westminster’s most vulnerable residents.
You will provide professional and sensitive cleaning services in properties affected by hoarding, hazardous waste, or extreme cleaning needs. You will need to be professional, resilient and have a strong commitment to health and safety (including COSHH and biohazard protocols).
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining accurate records of work completed, materials used, and any incidents or hazards encountered.
- Wearing PPE for extended periods when necessary.
- Approaching vulnerable residents with empathy, patience, and respect.
- Working flexibly, including evenings or weekends as required.
You will need a strong understanding of cleaning techniques, including deep cleaning, disinfection, and safe waste disposal, along with excellent awareness of health and safety practices.
Superb communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to interact sensitively with vulnerable individuals and deescalate conflict when necessary.
Teamworking skills in multi-agency environments will be key, as you will work with housing officers, social workers, or environmental health teams.
A valid Driving Licence is essential. Certifications in biohazard or trauma cleaning, health and safety training, manual handling certification, or safeguarding training would be advantageous.
