Join Hampshire County Council’s Universal Services Information Governance Team and help ensure the Council meets its statutory responsibilities for handling information. This is an opportunity to work in a high-profile and meaningful area, supporting transparency, accountability and public trust. You will play a key role in helping the Council comply with information governance legislation, including Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations and data protection.

Working in a fast-paced environment with statutory deadlines, you will develop your knowledge of information governance and build valuable experience in applying legislation in practice.

What you’ll do:

  • Deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service by supporting the management of FOI, EIR, complaints, and data protection queries.
  • Handle enquiries, prepare accurate correspondence, review and redact documents in line with legislation, and maintain detailed records using case management systems.
  • Monitor deadlines, liaise with services to obtain information, and provide guidance to colleagues on governance processes.
  • Contribute to service improvements while managing competing priorities and maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism.

What we’re looking for:

  • A motivated and highly organised individual who can demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when handling data and documents, alongside strong communication skills.
  • Confidence in using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as other systems.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines within a busy, high-volume environment.
  • Experience of working with sensitive or confidential information is essential, along with an interest in or understanding of information governance, data protection or statutory compliance.
  • Keen to learn and develop knowledge of information governance legislation and its practical application.
