At Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) we are driven by the pride in what we do and by our sense of duty, doing the very best we can every day. We are guided by our purpose – Together we Make Life Safer.

The Operational Assets department within the Corporate Services Directorate manages and maintains an extensive portfolio of assets, including a comprehensive fleet of vehicles, equipment, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and workwear to enable the effective and efficient delivery of a diverse range of services to the communities of Hampshire and Isle of Wight.

The Operational Assets team deliver a programme of activity including high value procurement projects which follow compliant tender processes that are fair and transparent in the spending of capital budgets. This includes carrying out effective evaluations and trials in conjunction with operational staff, and by utilising existing frameworks and collaborative procurement processes where possible.

Stakeholder engagement with operational teams and the wider service is essential in contributing to the user requirements, producing specifications, and demonstrating the operational benefits realised from assets being onboarded. The team recognise and respond to continuous improvements and learning available from HIWFRS operational experiences and lessons learnt.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Operational Assets team as an Asset Operations Project Manager, delivering against objectives within the programme of activity, following governance standards and processes to ensure successful project delivery, measured against time, cost and quality requirements.

You should have demonstrated experience of building and maintaining strong relationships and communicating effectively across all levels of an organisation including senior management. You will ideally have experience of supporting and managing procurement activity, in a local government setting with a clear understanding of procurement principles and processes.

You will be positive and enthusiastic about developing yourself, your team, and exploring new ways to ensure that our values and behaviours are embedded throughout HIWFRS.

  • Reaching Further - Inspiring and challenging ourselves and others.
  • Showing Respect - Fairness, honesty and integrity in everything we say and do.
  • Supporting Others - Listening and acting with compassion and empathy.
  • Everyone Playing Their Part - Recognising the contribution we all make.
