The Role:
As a part-time tutor, you will train and qualify the learning and support staff of tomorrow. You will deliver high-quality taught sessions that include theory and practical demonstrations. You’ll assess learners in the workplace and provide useful feedback. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring lessons are well prepared and materials are suitably developed.
- Carrying out marking and assessment to a high standard in a timely manner.
- Creating Individual Learning Plans, monitoring progress, and making referrals to Learning Support when necessary.
- Keeping an up-to-date register and tracking attendance.
- Working with your team to think up enrichment activities for learners.
To be a good fit, you’ll be experienced at teaching and assessing Supporting Teaching and Learning qualifications in a post-sixteen or adult education setting. You will have gained classroom management skills and bring first-hand experience of working in a school. A teaching qualification (PTLLS as a minimum) and a Level 3 Diploma or higher in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are required. Experience in assessing learning in the workplace is key, and you either have or are working towards an assessing qualification (D32/A1/TAQA).
You’re an excellent communicator – both verbally and in writing, experienced at using e-portfolio systems, and have strong IT skills. Teamwork is essential.
