The Role: As Specialist Cleaning Supervisor, you will lead, coordinate, and inspire a small team to deliver professional, sensitive cleaning services for properties affected by hoarding, hazardous waste, or extreme cleaning needs. This role combines operational leadership with genuine social value – improving health and care outcomes for those in need.
You will set operational standards and improvement initiatives, ensuring your team delivers deep cleaning and decontamination services. You will plan and coordinate operations, allocate work schedules, and ensure efficient use of resources and timely completion of tasks. You will hold budget oversight and be the decision‑making authority.
You will maintain accurate records of work completed, incidents, and materials used, and manage an inventory of cleaning supplies, PPE, and specialist equipment to support transparency, accountability and accuracy.
Teamwork is a core part of what you do. You will lead multi‑agency collaboration – including housing officers and social workers – to work towards the best outcome for residents. If you spot safeguarding concerns or property damage, you will report these to the relevant authorities.
You are expected to work evenings and weekends and wear PPE for extended periods.
Qualifications: You have experience working with vulnerable individuals and in multi‑agency teams, and you have supervised teams in specialist or industrial cleaning environments. You will be comfortable leading under pressure and in sensitive circumstances.
Key skills you bring include team management, interpersonal and communication skills, performance management, strategic planning, time and resource prioritisation, quality assurance, and IT literacy for scheduling and record‑keeping. A valid UK driving licence is required.
Nice‑to‑have qualifications: Certification in biohazard or trauma cleaning, Health and safety training, including COSHH awareness, Manual handling certification, Safeguarding training (Level 1 or above).
