The predicted salary is between 800 - 1400 £ per month.

If you are practically minded, able to work as part of a team, enjoy a mixture of outside and office-based work, are good at dealing with people and would like to help maintain the 8,000km of roads in Hampshire, this exciting role is for you. Training and development are provided to help you succeed and grow within the organisation. Through maintaining roads and footways, the work we do directly impacts the whole community. This position provides an opportunity to attend training and complete a Level 3 Civil Engineer Technician apprenticeship, to develop knowledge, skills and behaviours as set out in the apprenticeship standard. Above all, we are seeking to recruit people who share our commitment to and passion for our values and can demonstrate how they have put these values into practice in their work.

What you’ll do:

  • You will assist the design teams with the delivery of the annual planned maintenance programme of works (through inspection, design solution and preparation, site monitoring and stakeholder/contractor liaison).
  • Work closely with all aspects of Planned Maintenance.
  • Support the delivery of highway schemes to enable the efficient running of planned maintenance programmes.
  • Contribute to project activities as part of a team, under supervision, to develop knowledge and skills.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Interest and appreciation of highway engineering and the management/maintenance of a large road network.
  • Good customer care and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to manage a workload with minimal supervision.
  • Previous highways maintenance experience is not essential.
  • Willingness to travel within Hampshire and work out of hours on occasions if required.
  • Current driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.
