Salary Range: £27,780 - £30,564 per annum
Work Location: River Hamble Country Park, Southampton
The Role: Bird Aware Solent is looking for a Ranger to join its friendly and passionate team. Our rangers raise awareness of the importance of coastal birds within the Solent’s three Special Protection Areas (SPAs) and encourage responsible recreation when visiting and using the coast. The focus of this role will be to work alongside the Wildlife Aware Watersports project and engage with a range of businesses to help further spread Bird Aware Solent’s disturbance messaging within the watersports community.
What you’ll do
- In this role, you will build strong and positive relationships with local businesses and organisations, contributing to collaborative work that supports the overall success of the project.
- You’ll develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders and community groups, helping to foster a connected coastal community.
- Supported by the project lead, you will also promote responsible behaviour within the paddle and wind communities through engaging conversations and by directing individuals to relevant resources that encourage positive practice.
What we’re looking for
- The post holder must have experience with developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships and be confident in striking up good rapport with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Applicants will also need to demonstrate experience of public engagement and have a strong understanding of the watersports community.
- A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle for work purposes are essential.
