Are you looking for a new challenge in a community setting? Are you a quick thinking, problem solving Physiotherapist? Are you ready for a static post in a dynamic multidisciplinary team? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join Portsmouth Community rehabilitation Service. We are a vibrant, welcoming team with patient care at our core You will work as part of an integrated health and social care team to provide a holistic assessment of patients\’ immediate and longer term needs as well as physiotherapy intervention to enable rehabilitation and reablement goals to be achieved. As a service we are innovative, forward thinking and encourage staff engagement. You will have the opportunity to be involved in service / quality improvement and develop leadership skills as well as supervising rotational Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants and engage in student placement education. Clinical support and supervision will be provided by a Senior Physiotherapist, as well as being supported by a large friendly department who continually strive for service improvement and the best possible outcomes for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions. Provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
  • Hold responsibility for own caseload and responsible for a defined area of the service working without direct supervision. Supervision will take form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and case conferences. Access to advice and support from Specialist Physiotherapist is available if required. Clinical work is not routinely evaluated.
  • Participate in the on-call and emergency rotas, as required. When working on the emergency duty on call rota, undertake the assessment and treatment of acutely ill patients with respiratory problems, who may have a complex presentation and maintain associated records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Supervise assistants/technicians & students. Take responsibility for students, supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students, this would be to a graduate standard &involve working with Universities to ensure the standard of practice & teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.
  • Undertake evidence-based audit & research projects to further own and teams\’ practice within department. Make recommendations to clinical or pathway lead of service for changes to practice by team. May lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.
