We are looking for someone with a special interest in Acute, A&E and Ambulatory care, as well as a passion for leading and developing a team of Occupational Therapists. This clinician will work in partnership with the Specialist Occupational Therapists & MDT Clinical Specialists (Acute, Stroke & Palliative Care). The successful candidate will have exceptional skills in prioritisation and manage a clinical caseload. As a highly specialist clinician they will work flexibly to support the service across 7 days a week.
Main duties of the job:
- Commitment to contribute to the ongoing development of the Acute Therapy Service.
- A background of being self-motivated and able to work and lead in a team environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of the application of quality care and evidence-based practice.
- Ability to work within the Values and Visions framework of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
- A genuine wish to live on a beautiful Island (with good ferry connections to the mainland).
- Manage a highly complex clinical caseload, whilst balancing a managerial role.
- Share expertise to enable and develop the skills and competencies of the therapists in the service.
- Provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal.
- Provide expertise in manual handling, equipment prescription, positioning and seating, offering advice, training, and support to professionals, service users, and staff.
- Lead clinical audits and undertake research.

Person Specification:
Qualifications:
- Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- H.C.P.C registered & Eligible for College of Occupational Therapy membership.
- Masters or equivalent specialist knowledge/application in current best practice in Occupational Therapy including: Complex equipment prescription & adaptation, Risk assessment & stabilisation, Task analysis.
Experience:
- Documented evidence of continuing professional development held in a personal development portfolio.
- Demonstrates equivalent knowledge and skills at Masters level relevant to role.
- Applied knowledge of standardised and non-standardised assessment relevant to role.
- Membership of relevant clinical interest group.
- Demonstrated broad knowledge and application of current best practice in Occupational Therapy.
- Applied knowledge of treatment techniques relevant to improve and maintain Occupational Performance and Processing for the defined client group.
- Applied knowledge of effective planning and coordination of treatment packages.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office) to support Occupational Therapy interventions.
- Demonstrated understanding of team dynamics.

- HCPC registered.
