If so, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service (HIWFRS) may have the role for you. Based at our modern and well-equipped Fleet Maintenance Centre (FMC) in Eastleigh, we are seeking to recruit a qualified and motivated Automotive Electrician to join our Fleet Maintenance and Engineering function.
This role will support the maintenance, installation, inspection, and repair of electrical systems across our fleet and associated Service equipment, helping to ensure the ongoing safety, compliance, and operational readiness of frontline assets. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems on our fleet of vehicles and Service equipment
- Electrical fault diagnosis and repair on plant and equipment
- Electrical support to fleet operations, including vehicle charging systems, lighting, and power distribution
- New installations, refurbishments, and upgrades of electrical/electronic systems and equipment
- Supporting statutory compliance activities, including inspection, testing, and certification
- Assisting with fault response at Service locations and, on occasion, at operational incidents
The role is primarily based at Eastleigh; however, you will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire, and it is essential that you have a current driversβ licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.
We are looking for individuals who:
- Hold a recognised electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
- Are trained in electrical inspection and testing
- Have proven experience working as an automotive Electrician in a Main Dealer or fleet environment
- Are able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrate a professional, safety-focused, and customer-oriented approach
- Are flexible and willing to work across multiple Service locations
