Location: Isle of Wight - Shanklin - Role is based on the IOW, so applicants will have to make their own way to the station; no travel expenses from the mainland will be paid by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary.

The CSI role on the IOW is supported by the Hampshire CSI offices, but there is a significant amount of lone working.

Salary: Scale 5, bar 6, bar SO1 - £29,109 - £37,692 per annum (plus 12.5% shift allowance and weekend enhancement).

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week

About The Role:

To process crime scenes using specialist, approved techniques to visualise, capture, and recover evidence with forensic potential.

Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support investigations through the preservation, capture, and assessment of evidence at crime scenes using digital capture, forensic, and fingerprint techniques which may link an individual to the scene.
  • Observe, assess, and record all aspects of a crime scene and the immediate environment, ensuring that all findings are available to support the wider investigation.
  • Handle exhibits from investigations in line with agreed protocols to maintain the integrity, continuity, and security of evidence in support of investigative processes and court proceedings.
  • Attend suspicious deaths and post-mortems to provide appropriate forensic advice and support and to recover any evidential material which may have forensic potential.
  • Prepare and present evidence, including, but not limited to, statements, schedules, incident logs, and prepare exhibits for the laboratory.
