About the role
Reporting to the Treasury FX & Liquidity Manager, the primary responsibility of the Treasury Front Office Analyst is the execution of Treasury deals within and in compliance with individual and Treasury delegated authorities.
The Treasury Front Office Analyst is also responsible for supporting Treasury Front office activities in the management and execution of all Treasury deals on behalf of the Bank, resolution of issues, development of Treasury deal capture system and Treasury Front office reporting.
The ideal candidate for the role will have:
- Degree / Higher / A-level in a financial or mathematical based subject.
- Relevant professional experience in Banking, Treasury, Risk management or comparable professional practice.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Ideally, previous experience of Treasury, markets and /or Liquidity.
- Keen interest and desire to understand markets and Treasury, securities, derivatives, foreign exchange, money markets and Treasury risk management concepts.
- Good understanding of standard computer applications (Microsoft Office package) and competence.
- Intermediate / Advanced Excel skills.
Main responsibilities / key duties:
Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:
Dealing & Control
- Execution of Treasury deals with external Banks and counterparties, agreeing the terms of the deals, ensuring the deals are transacted in compliance with individual and Treasury delegated authorities. Treasury deals will include (1) Cash transfers and all movement of cash across accounts and to and from BoE, Liquidity funds and agency Bank accounts (2) Placement of cash with other Banks (3) Securities including Treasury bills and Bonds (4) Interest rate swaps (5) Foreign exchange spot and (6) Foreign exchange swaps (7) Repo transactions.
- Ensure that all deals are executed in accordance with the delegated authority.
- Resolution of deal related matters and disagreements in a timing manner ensuring that good working relationships are retained both internally with Banking Operations and with the external Banks and counterparties.
- Ensure User access to all systems used by Treasury (i.e., RTGS/Berti, Bankline, Agile Markets, Lloyds arena, Instimatch etc) remain up-to-date and can be accessed across the day.
- Book Treasury deals into Treasury deal capture system (i.e., Flexcube).
- Project Lead on Treasury Flexcube system development, testing the system for upgrades and the introduction of new Treasury products working closely with Change, Finance, ALM, and IT.
- Ensure Treasury static data in Flexcube is accurate, maintained and up to date.
- Provision of the Bank EoD (end of day) FX and interest rates in line with the Bank EoD close together with the Foreign exchange rate template for Private Bankers.
- Ensure Treasury deal booking processes and procedure remain appropriate, up-to-date and in line with the agreed approach and key controls included in Treasury RACA.
- Timely resolution of transaction and/or data issues that adversely impact of Treasury Front Office activities and positions, working closely with Finance, ALM, IT.
- Maintain Treasury Front office daily spreadsheets in line with good practice and the Bank EUDA requirements.
Reporting
- Responsible for producing the intra-daily and EoD Treasury Front office files including FX and liquidity ensuring accuracy of positions to help in managing these risks.
- Preparation of accrual at month-end that relate to Treasury products where required.
- Responsible for producing the Bank deposit rate slates, changes to include new products and changes agreed at Pricing Committee.
- Assist in the preparation of meeting and Committee papers and MI, presenting in meetings and Committees as required.
Operation
- Primary contact for Treasury operations and Front office day-to-day activities.
- Working in conjunction with Commercial and Banking Operations, to minimise the number of late settlements and operational issues relating to Treasury deals.
- Recommend improvement on operational matters. Agree targets for the number of Operational improvements across the year and track deliverables against these targets.
People, Collaboration
- Develop close and collaborative working relationships with the broader CFO, CCO and COO functions, working closely with Treasury colleagues, Finance, Banking Operations, IT and Private Bankers to develop good working relationships, balancing the needs of Treasury with the needs of these stakeholders.
- Succession planning and deputise for Treasury Manager.
- Self-aware, takes ownership of PDP identifying gaps in technical, execution and operational skills. Agree with line manager support that can be provided by in-house training and via external courses.
- Work with the Head of ALM & Capital to develop knowledge of ALM and Balance Sheet management to complement Front Office skills and experience.
