Contract: 6 Months

Day Rate: £460

Overview: This is a high-impact, 'hands-on' role providing expert financial business partnering across our transformation portfolio. You will bridge the gap between complex data modelling and practical delivery, with a heavy initial focus on commercialisation, income generation, and contract efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain robust models for business cases, including cost-benefit analysis, sensitivity testing, and break-even projections.
  • Lead on option appraisals for income generation, fees and charges reviews, and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Design and manage processes to track programme costs, cashable savings, and ROI against the Medium-Term Financial Strategy (MTFS).
  • Act as the finance lead for project boards, translating complex financial risks and 'so what' implications for non-financial stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • CCAB qualified (or equivalent senior-level commercial finance experience).

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced Excel is essential; experience with Power BI and local government finance systems (ERP/GL) is highly desirable.

Commercial Acumen:

  • Proven ability to evaluate trading models, service redesigns, and value-for-money in a public sector context.

Problem Solving:

  • A self-starter who can cleanse inconsistent datasets and provide clarity in ambiguous environments.

Communication:

  • Ability to challenge senior stakeholders constructively and diplomatically to ensure proposals are affordable and deliverable.

Key Outcomes:

  • High-quality business cases and investment appraisals.
  • Embedded tracking for programme savings and delivery costs.
