The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea are seeking a Corporate Health and Safety Manager who can lead the development and delivery of the Council's policy. We are seeking a forward-thinking individual shaping the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Council’s Corporate Health & Safety framework. Working at the heart of the Council, you will provide expert advice to senior leaders, service managers and operational teams with varied risk profiles and settings such as corporate offices, social services, waste management and community facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of the Council’s corporate health & safety strategy
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work etc.
- Provide high-level advice and assurance to Directors, Heads of Service, and Members
- Oversee risk management processes, including corporate risk registers and safety audits
- Lead on incident investigations, reporting (including RIDDOR), and lessons learned
- Develop and deliver training programmes to build organisational competence
- Manage and review policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Promote a proactive, positive safety culture across all services
What we are looking for
- You will be a confident and credible health and safety professional with the ability to influence at all levels of a complex organisation.
- Experience in a Local Government setting.
- A recognised qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
- Membership of a professional body (e.g. IOSH), ideally CMIOSH or working towards
- Proven experience in a corporate health & safety role, preferably within the public sector or a multi-site organisation
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practice
- Experience of advising senior stakeholders and driving cultural change
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills
