An exciting opportunity has arisen to come and join us in the Renal and Transplant services, primarily based at Hammersmith Hospital as an Outpatient Clinic Administrator. The role will encompass a wide range of tasks and variety, giving the post holder the opportunity to develop and learn new skills, whilst providing a valuable service to our patients.

The post holder will work flexibly across services to provide a booking service, process clinic changes, answer telephone queries, process referrals and undertake a range of general admin tasks for our Renal and Transplant clinics. The post holder will need to be positive, hardworking and enthusiastic. An ability to work at pace within a busy environment is a key skill required for the post.

Main duties of the job:
  • Covering reception in Renal Outpatient Department by greeting patients and checking them in and out on the Patient Administration System, Cerner once trained.
  • Maintain accuracy of patient administration.
  • Deal appropriately with enquiries by telephone, in person and by email, from staff and the general public seeking advice.
  • Preparing patient information in advance of the running of clinics.

Person specification:
  • Education / Qualifications
  • Essential criteria: Good educational standard of at least GCSE in English or Maths, or equivalent.
  • Desirable criteria: Medical terminology.
  • Experience
    • Essential criteria: Demonstrable customer service experience, ability to prioritise work to meet tight deadlines, previous clerical experience.
    • Desirable criteria: Previous experience of working in hospital or NHS setting, experience with information databases, experience dealing with people in a healthcare or other stressful environments.
  • Skills
    • Essential criteria: Basic computer literacy, clerical skills.
    • Desirable criteria: ICHIS experience.
