About The Role

In H&F we are proud of our approach to Independence enabling our residents to remain independent for as long as they can. Independent living is not only about the services we provide; it is about building communities and systems that support independence at every stage of life. By focusing on prevention, choice and inclusion, we are creating a place, together with our partners in health and the voluntary sector, where residents can continue to access the right support, when they need them, in a way that suits them.

This is an exciting time to join the H&F Commissioning and Transformation Team. We are transforming Adult Social Care in the context of significant change in the Health landscape and financial reform for Local Authorities. In response to these challenges, we have developed a new strategic approach; one that prioritises creativity and self-direction. We are creating a system that empowers people to thrive in their own homes and communities.

We are looking for a Strategic Commissioner to help us achieve our ambitions. With a substantial track record of developing innovative and strategic commissioning and transformation programmes, delivering innovative and sustainable service improvements across Adults Social Care in collaboration with key partners such as Health and Housing, you will work hard to create a truly compassionate council that delivers high quality services for our residents.

To achieve this, you will critically assess and challenge our current delivery methods, implementing changes that will improve outcomes for our residents and deliver efficiencies. Never conforming with just the minimum, you will look out for continuous improvement across the organisation. In this critical role you will manage a team and a portfolio of work programmes spanning in-house services, commissioned services and partnerships. You will share our vision to achieve whole scale change. Together, you will help us achieve our ambitions of creating an even better borough for our residents.

This is an opportunity to rise to the challenge and develop your career by making Hammersmith & Fulham a better place.

Our People Values

  • We are fair: We treat everyone with compassion, dignity and fairness. We value the views and opinion of others, and promote benefits and opportunities for all.
  • We are caring: We care about our borough and doing things well. We focus on standards and continuous improvement; learning from our mistakes and celebrating success.
  • We are collaborators: We work together for a better society. We work with our residents, businesses, schools, third sector and others for better outcomes for everyone.
  • We are driven: We will only settle for the very best. We seek to continually improve and put our residents, customers and businesses at the heart of everything we do.

Our Commitment To You

At H&F you will have access to a comprehensive total reward package as well as joining a flexible working employer and as such all staff can request flexible working.

We believe an inclusive workplace is about the visibility and representation of our local diverse community - it is about open and transparent decision making co-produced with staff and residents.
