We are supporting a well-established and growing construction business in the appointment of an Interim Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership during a significant period of growth and transformation.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a pivotal leadership role with full responsibility for the finance function. You will partner closely with the executive team to drive commercial performance, provide strategic insight, and ensure robust financial governance across the business.
The Role
- Provide strategic financial leadership to the business and executive team
- Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring strong financial control and governance
- Oversee month-end reporting, financial reporting and balance sheet integrity
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and long-term financial planning
- Deliver commercial insight and challenge to support business growth and profitability
- Partner with operational teams to improve financial performance and decision-making
- Oversee investment appraisals, business cases and capital expenditure
- Manage joint venture reporting and key stakeholder relationships
- Lead year-end audit processes and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, controls and reporting
- Mentor and develop the wider finance team while promoting a high-performance culture
About You
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Previous experience operating as an Interim Finance Director, Finance Director, or a senior Head of Finance within construction, housebuilding, engineering, or another project-based environment
- Strong technical accounting and financial control expertise
- Excellent commercial acumen with proven experience in budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
- Experience managing joint ventures and complex reporting structures
- Able to influence and challenge senior stakeholders, including board-level executives
- Comfortable leading through change and delivering results in a fast-paced environment
- Available to start at short notice or immediately preferred
