Construction/Property Development Experience Required

Are you a qualified accountant with significant commercial finance experience within the housebuilding or construction sector? We're recruiting for a Head of Finance to join a well-established and growing organisation, providing senior financial leadership across a regional business.

The Role

As Head of Finance, you'll report directly to the Finance Director and take responsibility for the delivery of accurate financial reporting, forecasting and financial control across the region. You'll lead the finance team and work closely with senior stakeholders across commercial, land and sales, providing insight that supports business performance and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly financial forecasts, including life-of-site project reviews.
  • Lead the production of monthly management accounts, reporting packs and performance analysis.
  • Oversee short-term and longer-term cashflow forecasting and management.
  • Manage the financial reporting and accounting requirements for regional Joint Ventures, including board reporting and cashflows.
  • Produce concise financial information and analysis for senior management and the regional board.
  • Lead and develop the regional finance team, ensuring high standards of financial control and reporting.
  • Ensure financial processes and reporting comply with accounting standards, Group requirements and internal deadlines.
  • Work closely with commercial, land and sales teams to challenge performance, identify risks and drive commercial outcomes.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data across core finance and reporting systems.
  • Lead and support process improvement initiatives, improving efficiency, controls and quality of financial information.
  • Liaise with external auditors during year-end, half-year and Joint Venture audits.
  • Support the Finance Director and Managing Director with ad hoc commercial and strategic reporting.
  • Act as deputy to the Finance Director when required.

Requirements:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
  • Significant finance experience within the housebuilding or construction sector is essential.
  • Extensive post-qualified experience within a commercially focused finance environment.
  • Proven experience leading financial reporting, forecasting and management information.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience managing and developing a finance team.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, reporting processes and performance management.
  • Excellent Excel skills and a strong analytical mindset.
  • Experience with COINS and/or Anaplan would be desirable.
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships across finance and non-finance teams.
  • Proactive, commercially minded and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
