We are seeking a confident, knowledgeable Senior Orthopaedic Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Hamilton Specialist Referrals on a full-time basis. There is a strong focus on providing a personal and reassuring client experience from first contact through to discharge. Excellent clinical care delivered in a friendly and supportive manner to referring vets is paramount to the team. The hospital is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and offers the most advanced treatment options for orthopaedic, neurology, soft tissue, and internal medicine cases. We have a dedicated Imaging suite, which includes a 16‑slice CT scanner, a 1.5 Tesla MRI, fluoroscopy, and separate radiography and ultrasound rooms.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Senior Orthopaedic Veterinary Nurse, you will set the standard for excellence within the Orthopaedic Nursing Department, promoting high‑quality patient care and clinical best practice. You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team to support excellent patient and client care. You'll also act as a source of guidance for the nursing team and contribute to maintaining and improving clinical standards, workflows and patient outcomes.

  • Coordinate with the workflow coordinator across procedure areas, ensuring efficient service delivery and optimal patient flow
  • Lead by example, maintaining high standards of nursing care and operational efficiency
  • Support the Clinical Team Leader (CTL) in the day‑to‑day leadership and organisation of the nursing team
  • Mentor and develop team members, identifying training needs and fostering a positive learning culture
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department to enhance patient care, team performance, and operational effectiveness
Working Pattern

40 hours per week, 4 days per week working 9.25‑hour shifts plus a 30‑minute unpaid break, 1:6 weekends working 2 x 9‑hour shifts plus an unpaid 30‑minute break, Bank holiday cover on a rota (normally 2 shifts a year).

General Responsibilities
