Our successful candidate will work collaboratively across our specialist‑led team, providing excellent clinical development opportunities for an ambitious, driven RVN looking to take the next step in their career.
Hamilton Specialist Referrals is a purpose‑built state‑of‑the‑art veterinary hospital providing the latest in cutting‑edge specialist treatments for cats and dogs, supported by an exceptional rehabilitation and physiotherapy facility. The hospital is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and offers the most advanced treatment options available for orthopaedic, neurology, soft tissue, and internal medicine cases, including a 16‑slice CT scanner, 1.5 Tesla MRI, fluoroscopy, and dedicated radiography and ultrasound rooms.
Responsibilities
- Cover a variety of nursing duties across prep, theatre, wards and imaging.
- Monitor anaesthesia and sedations of patients undergoing diagnostic imaging, surgery, and/or rechecks.
- Assist in theatre to cover the circulatory nurse role.
- Place arterial lines, central lines and administer nerve blocks under the supervision of an anaesthetist.
- Provide support to the surgery and neurology departments and serve as a point of contact to clients, including organising admits and discharges.
- Provide excellent standards of patient care in our Wards and HDU.
- Support the out‑of‑hours team by admitting and stabilising emergency cases.
Working Pattern
A full‑time position covers 40 hours per week across a rolling six‑week rota. We offer a four‑day working week, which comprises four 9.25‑hour shifts between 15:45 and 22:30 during the week, plus a one‑in‑six weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday).
